What is a Quote?

A quote is a time-limited price for a conversion that locks the exchange rate and fees, returning a quote ID you must use when creating a transaction. Every transaction in Conduit requires a quote before it can be created.

Types of Quote Requests

There are two types of quote requests:
  • Source-based quote request
  • Target-based quote request

Source-based quote request

A source-based quote is based on the source asset amount. You provide the source and target assets; the quote returns how much target asset you receive for the given source amount. For example, converting 100 USD to USDT returns the USDT amount you’ll receive for 100 USD.

Target-based quote request

A target-based quote is based on the target asset amount. You provide the target and source assets; the quote returns how much source asset you must send to receive the desired target amount. For example, to receive 100 USDT, the quote returns how much USD you must send.

Quote lifetime

A quote is valid for 3 minutes. If not used within 3 minutes, it expires and you’ll need to create a new one.
We recommend showing the user the quoted rate and a countdown of the time remaining before it expires in your transaction flow.
